AFC #EmpoweringDreams Meet Mr. Cleophas Kimeli Birgen, a tea farmer who has partnered with AFC since 2004 and has achieved a remarkable success. Today, he's a leading tea farmer in Nandi County with an impressive 60-acre farm. Through sheer dedication and hard work, Mr. Birgen now harvests a staggering 20,000 kilograms of tea per month. What's even more impressive is that each kilo sells for Ksh. 27/=, a testament to the exceptional quality of his tea. His expertise in tea cultivation and commitment to maintaining high standards are truly commendable. To ensure his tea reaches the market, Mr. Birgen delivers his green tea to three different factories: Kapchorua Tea, Eastern Produce, and KTDA (Kenya Tea Development Agency). This strategic diversification allows him to seize various market opportunities and secure a steady income stream. Mr. Birgen's impact extends far beyond his own prosperity. Through his tea farming venture, he has created employment for around 15 people, offering both casual and contract positions. These individuals are involved in vital activities such as harvesting, weeding, and transporting the tea to factories. By providing jobs, Mr. Birgen contributes to the local economy and improves the lives of these employees and their families. For Mr. Birgen, partnering with AFC has been truly transformative. After retiring from teaching in 1996, he embarked on a new career in tea farming. Thanks to AFC's support and financial assistance, he established his successful tea farm, securing a sustainable source of income and enhancing his overall quality of life. Mr. Birgen's inspiring journey highlights how AFC empowers individuals to pursue entrepreneurial dreams, create jobs, and drive community development. Together, we are #EmpoweringDreams and #GrowingTogether. Join us in celebrating the #AFCPartnership!#EmpoweringDreams #GrowingTogether #AFCPartnership
