AFC bags top position in Kitale Show
By Harun Njago:- The Corporation bagged first position in “The Best Financial Institution other than Bank category” during the Kitale National show which took place from 26th to 29th October, 2022. The show was officially opened by Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Hon. Mithika Linturi on Friday 28th October, 2022 as he embarked on his first official duty in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The assignment came barely a day after he took the oath of office at State House where he said he would get down to work immediately. In his speech, Hon. Linturi said that he will venture to improve food security in the country so that Kenya can stop relying on foreign countries in terms of food production. "Kenya is moving towards food security and I am asking citizens to join us realise the food sufficient agenda. I will do my best to partner with devolved units and support farmers access affordable farm inputs such as seeds and fertiliser," said Linturi. “The national and county governments will partner to facilitate training of farmers and equip them with useful technologies to enhance food production,” He added The show attracted over 70 exhibitors who displayed various categories of products and services with over 7,000 participants. There were over 15 Government Ministries and Parastatals who showcased various innovations and technologies in different fields. Hon. Linturi was joined by top Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development officials, Trans-Nzoia Deputy Governor Philomena Bineah, MPs Maurice Bisau, Kiminini, Dr Robert Pukose, Endebess and Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and area Woman Representative, Lilian Chebet among others. Hon. Linturi took the opportunity to visit one of AFC's client, Bonali Farm, a poultry farm with 22,000 birds which collects over 18,000 trays of eggs per day.
