MANAGING DIRECTOR MEETS AGRA OFFICIALS
Thursday, 27th May, 2021. The Managing Director, Mr. George Kubai, met officials from Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) at AFC Headquarters, Nairobi. During the meeting, they held discussions on areas of partnership between the Corporation and AGRA focusing on enhancing access to agricultural finance of women and youth. AGRA's Head of Inclusive Finance, Ms. Hedwig Siewertsen, emphasized the need for AFC to strengthen its financial inclusion interventions especially for women and youth. She expressed AGRA's willingness to continue supporting the Corporation to ensure that this is realised. On his part, AGRA's Senior Program Officer Mr. Ezra Anyango, who is also AGRA's principal contact person with AFC, lauded the solid relationship between the two institutions, noting that the partnership will play a role in seeing AFC achieve its aspiration of stimulating invest through agriculture The Managing Director, in his remarks, appreciated the support AGRA has accorded the Corporation over the years, noting that AFC continues to realize gains arising from its role in the PROFIT Program, and that as a result of its successful implementation, the Government had borrowed key lessons in its design of the national credit guarantee scheme. In addition, the FITNESS system has been operationalized and mainstreamed into the Corporation's branch operations and has significantly eased the turnaround time for the loan application process. Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is an organization dealing with agricultural products in Africa. It is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as the Rockefeller Foundation. Broadly, it deals with improving agricultural products and supporting local farm owners and labor.
