WORLD FOOD DAY CELEBRATIONS 2018
16th October 2018 AFC celebrated World Food Day through its Kisii, Kilifi and Bondo branches. The Kisii celebration was held at Kenyenya stadium, Kilifi at ADU in Magarini and Ajigo village in Bondo. The branches amplified the Corporation’s commitment to end hunger and malnutrition by providing financial services to the agricultural sector. They also took the opportunity to market our products and services to the invited farmers. World Food Day celebrations are held annually on 16th October to commemorate the launching of the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) IN 1945. FAO aims at revitalizing the resolve against fighting extreme poverty, hunger and malnutrition in the world. This year’s theme: “Our Actions are Our Future. A Zero Hunger World by 2030 is possible” The celebrations are organized in over 130 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all
